Systal appoints Deryck Mitchelson as Strategic CISO to strengthen cybersecurity, resilience and enterprise transformation leadership.

Systal Technology Solutions today announced the appointment of Deryck Mitchelson as Strategic Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), strengthening the company’s leadership team and reinforcing its commitment to helping organisations address increasingly complex cybersecurity and operational resilience challenges.

Deryck brings more than 30 years of experience in cybersecurity, digital transformation, enterprise technology strategy and resilience across highly regulated and critical infrastructure sectors.

Prior to joining Systal, Deryck held senior executive roles at Check Point Software Technologies, where he led the Global CISO Programme and Executive Business Centre. In these roles, he evolved both functions into strategic customer engagement platforms, helping organisations align cybersecurity strategy with business growth, operational resilience and executive decision-making.

Earlier, Deryck served as CIO and CISO for NHS National Services Scotland. During his tenure, he helped shape the vision for NHS Scotland’s Cyber Centre of Excellence, strengthening cyber resilience across national healthcare services and supporting the protection of critical public infrastructure. In addition to his executive work, Deryck serves as Vice Chair of the Scottish Government’s National Cyber Resilience Advisory Board, supporting Scotland’s national cyber resilience agenda through collaboration between government, law enforcement, academia and industry.
