Systal Success Stories: World-leading consumer goods company reduces infrastructure TCO by seamlessly migrating business applications from their Data Centre to a Cloud based environment:
Our customer, a world leading consumer goods company, was feeling the impact on their IT Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of managing multiple on-premises data centres globally. They identified that a migration to Cloud infrastructure would enable them to save on costs but did not have the risk appetite to complete a big-bang migration to a full Cloud solution.
Having previously delivered a major migration project for the client, Systal was selected again to successfully migrate all business applications in their Data Centre to a Cloud based co-location environment.
How did Systal help?
✓ Full Network Infrastructure and Configuration Analysis: Systal partnered with the customer to complete a full analysis of the customer-owned network infrastructure and configuration. The output of the analysis allowed a migration strategy to be prepared and proposed to the customer, targeting individual data centres in sequence to secure cost reductions without committing to an aggressive cut over approach.
✓ Bespoke Migration Approach: For each data centre targeted, Systal provided a dedicated project team of engineers and project management resources to deliver the change. Each data centre was thoroughly assessed and understood, and a bespoke migration approach was agreed to ensure the workloads were migrated appropriately to the chosen Public Cloud solution.
✓ Seamless Cloud Integration Achieved: It was critical for our customer that there was no disturbance to the services and end users. Our Cloud Integration experts carried out mock migrations on each data centre to allow for seamless communication across the hybrid estate. All data centre migrations were completed with no service disruptions or impact on end users. Multiple network service elements were migrated successfully, including shared services for remote sites, monitoring tools, VPN Tunnels, Firewall Rules, and Network Subnets.
Key Customer Benefits
The Client’s CIO passed on their personal thanks for the success on Systal’s delivery of a second complex migration project, delivered expertly, to plan and with minimal risk. Key benefits:
✓ Cost Reduction: By divesting themselves of these physical assets, the Client saw significant TCO reduction in their infrastructure estate.
✓ Reduced Complexity: Reduction in complexity of infrastructure estate – differences were standardised into a single, centralised management model.
✓ Zero Consumer Impact: All migrations completed with no impact on consumers of the services.
